Scandalous Minnie Mouse Display

Minnie Mouse never looked more attractive thanks to Barney’s department store in NYC. The new holiday window display is set to be a new and improved Minnie Mouse being 5ft 11″ and a whopping size 0. Well while everyone seems to agree that there’s nothing wrong with thin tall women, some are saying there is something wrong with altering the image of a classic children’s cartoon character to fit in with the “IN” crowd.

Ragen Chastain of Los Angeles feels strongly that this is incorrect so much as to set up a petition to the Display Communications Manager of Barney’s to not go through with the upcoming planned holiday window display.

There is nothing wrong with tall thin women. There is something wrong with changing a beloved children’s character’s body so that it looks good in a dress that almost nobody looks good in – adding to the tremendous pressure on young girls and women to attain photoshop perfection. The problem isn’t with Minnie’s body, it’s with a dress that only looks good on a woman who is 5’11 and a size zero.

That little girl who is going to become a 5’4, size 12 woman can’t just become a 5’11, size 0 woman when she wants to fit into a dress that was designed by someone who couldn’t be bothered to make a dress that looks good on someone who is not a model.-Ragen Chastain (more…)

Meet Vice Presidential Candidate Judge Jim Gray

Earlier this evening I was able to meet and talk with libertarian vice presidential candidate Judge Jim Gray. The majority of his speech was focused on abolishing drug prohibition as I had figured it would be. He did touch on other subjects like the Department of Education, Department of Energy and Department of Commerce. I don’t feel the need to write about his stances on the departments because with these three departments libertarians seem to decide unanimously that they all should be shut down or at the least reformed tremendously.

The location where he spoke was a small art gallery in downtown Phoenix where one can find numerous small shops, galleries, restaurants and bars. Basically it’s a hipster and hippie alike, hangout part of town. I know this well considering I frequent a few bars in the area. A hippy chick artist was in the front of the gallery painting away with her dreadlocks pulled back. When I entered to see her and the small gallery I first thought that maybe I was in the wrong place. She confirmed with me that I wasn’t and that Jim Gray would be speaking in the back patio. I weaved my way through the gallery to find the back patio where the audio was being set up by other hippies. Needless to say this was the stereotypical location for someone to speak out against prohibition of drugs. I imagined if any neo-cons were to find out about this speech they surely smirk self righteously. (more…)

The Time Traveling Contrarian

One question I’m positive the majority of you are familiar with and have been asked, I will visit now in a somewhat contrarian way, which I hope someday soon will be a view shared by the majority. In one way or another the question which begs for the suspension in belief about time travel, “If you could travel back in time knowing what you know now, to the summer of 1939 and to be fortunate enough to be alone in a room armed with Adolf Hitler, would you kill him?” I will make an approximate guess that roughly nine out of ten people would answer yes, with very little hesitation. I will now alter the nature of that question with another similar one. If you could travel back in time to around May of 1889 and found yourself alone with the infant one month old Adolf Hitler, would you kill him? I imagine the answer the majority would respond to this alteration of the original question, after a pause for contemplation, with the answer no. No one of sound mind would want to be a baby killer regardless of the baby (short of Rosemary’s).

In reference to my stating how I will visit this question in a contrarian way, I mean this by stating that I wouldn’t kill Adolf Hitler in either scenario and wish to explain my reasoning. Coming from angles of economic theory, political science, philosophy and neurobiology I can explain my contrarian position. In recent studies mostly put forth by acclaimed neuroscientist and philosopher Sam Harris, free will has proven to be impossible. Every decision we make as human beings comes from neurological processes that deal both with physiology and psychology. Our brains operate uniquely from person to person. Someone with the genes and brain patterns of a serial killer (i.e. the serotonin needed for rational behavior of response isn’t produced enough in the frontal cortex) can turn out not to be a serial killer and instead a rather pleasant human being. This being due to their past experiences and environment that they were raised in. If for example a person with this disease* is raised in a loving family with good relations with both their parents and their siblings this can possibly, and has been proven to in some cases, alter their genetic programming ( not necessarily altering exactly but rather countering) and train their behavior to be responsive in a similar way as the average person who does not suffer from this deficiency. Principles of a Free Society

In a truly free society there are a few principles we should live by. These truths have become very evident in the recent years on interventionism by the U.S. government in policies, laws and the policing of the world. I guess it doesn’t surprise me that they are not clear to the masses due to the extreme conditioning we citizens have gone through since our childhood.

If these simple principles were at the forefront of our political beliefs we would see prosperous longevity in our economy and in our happiness as a whole. And as opposed to many other attempts at sound policy these principles cost the country absolutely nothing. I wish to outline these principles.

As a government we should refrain from forcing issues upon others because with every force there is a counterforce. Nor should we defeat enemies by force of arms for even when violent actions are well intentioned at first these actions always rebound on ourselves. This has been evident in recent years with our various entanglements with the Middle East. It does no one good economically nor does it any good for national prosperity.

In dealing with the issue of violence it should be of only the last possible resort for survival. In victory over the enemy we shouldn’t rejoice and declare victory as a triumph but instead with our heads held low in despair. While yes we may have found ourselves in a situation with only one option of survival we shouldn’t be proud of our victory because then we are also proud of the confrontation. This is a sign of men hungry for power. (more…)

Election Year Money Printing Scheme Courtesy The FED

Well it’s that time again. The temperatures are dropping, the kids are back in school, and the smell of bullshit is in the air. The bullshit and time of year I speak of is none other than presidential election time with false positive economic signs to boot. The tactic is what has become an unfortunately recurring one from the Federal Reserve. Ben Bernanke is at it again printing more money we don’t have to boost the economy. Of course though it doesn’t boost the economy it only drowns it more. He seriously cannot be this foolish to believe printing more money will positively boost the economy.

At one time in my life I believed Bernanke and predecessor Greenspan to be ignorant and overly optimistic of the Fed’s role in economics. But I have found I was being too friendly and rather overly optimistic myself. Here again just in time to artificially boost the economy to help Obama win re-election. (I wonder what deals Bernanke received in exchange for future Fed criminal disasters).

QE3 is the name of this new round of money printing. What can we do to prevent it from happening one might ask. Well I’m positive we can’t stop this round but we can spread the news that we know what’s going on and we won’t be fooled so easily. We can and should contact our congressman with our opposition to QE3 to let it be known. Spread the word! Printing money does not work and never has worked in the past!

Ron Paul Rally Tampa, Florida 26th August 2012

On my travels to Tampa last weekend a lot of thoughts ran around my head. I am a Libertarian and I know this very well, but I wanted to see how other Libertarians and Libertarian leaning Republicans behave and respond to the many questions and attacks Libertarians undergo. I found that Libertarians are a rather diverse group which in essence is what being a Libertarian is all about, individuality and the rights thereof. Some of us are keen on science while others are more keen on religion. This is a big dividing factor between most of us in this party. I myself am an atheist an anarchist and a strong advocate for evolution. While many others still believe in a god of some sort. This causes a rift between the pro-choice and pro-life individuals among us. This being said we are all in favor of individual liberty, little or no government, a strong desire to end the Federal Reserve, very similar if not exact views on foreign affairs (especially dealing with war and military spending), and we all seem to love Ron Paul.

The Paul Fest was an excellent experience for the lot of us, I’m sure most attendees would agree, but the bigger event was the Ron Paul rally at the University of South Florida Sun Dome, which took place on Sunday August 26th 2012 in Tampa, Florida. At the rally we saw many esteemed speakers from the likes of the highly influential Lew Rockwell, Barry Goldwater Jr., and many others along with a couple musical performances. (more…)

Gary Johnson At PAUL FESTIVAL 2012 Tampa, FLA

Two fellow liberty movement members and I travelled across country to attend the Paul Festival and Ron Paul rally in Tampa, FLA this year. It was a pleasant experience driving about 4,600 miles round trip. I feel proud to know there are no limits to my participation in the liberty movement.

Among other speakers at the Paul Festival was my candidate for president Gary Johnson. It was an absolute pleasure to record his speech and an even more powerful pleasure to meet him. I’m not one for bothering people I like so when I approached him I was attempting to simply quickly have a picture taken of us but Gary wanted more, he wanted to speak to me and everyone that approached him. Looking straight in my eyes and reaching out his hand it seemed as though he was giving me his undivided attention which forced me to speak more than I had originally planned. It was a pleasant meeting and further solidified my desire to vote for him in this coming 2012 presidential election. (more…)

Cuban Punk Rocker Gorki Aguila And The Truth About Capitalism vs Crony Capitalism

Lately anyone who has a Facebook or Twitter account has seen a lot of opposition towards capitalism. Even among the wealthy celebrities who wouldn’t be wealthy nor even a celebrity without the helping hand of capitalism find the romance in being anti-capitalist. Here’s the thing kids you’ve got it all terribly wrong. For one thing you’re speaking about your opposition towards CRONY capitalism not true capitalism. Does my love of a free market make me appear square? Greedy? As your enemy? If your answer to any of those questions is yes then you are a sheep (or a bona fide communist in which case I can and will respect your views because they’re not hypocritical). If you are reading this on you iPad or Mac Book then you my friend are a sheep among the sheeple and I AM more punk rock than you ever will be!

Hmm did I strike a chord? If so, good. Crony capitalism is corporatism gone incredibly wrong. You wish to occupy Wall Street but I’m afraid you are off the mark. You need to travel to Washington D.C. There is where the source lays, not on Wall Street. Your government you wish to provide more power too is the source of your outrage. And it’s so terrible how sheep-like they actually make you look when you go after Wall Street because they told you to. That’s right the government blamed you for the real-estate bubble burst, for the bailouts and for the poor economy. What they don’t tell you is that they were behind it all and when the bubble burst they took us deeper by bailing out the banks that they also blamed. This is brilliant work by both the Bush and Obama administration. To be able to cause such economic destruction and then turn around and blame the innocent and have the innocent actually believe them is a brilliant play by the U.S. government. Sure the citizens after a bit of time didn’t want to take the blame anymore so they turned to Wall Street and put the blame on them. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of crooks in Wall Street but these crooks are in cahoots with your dear government.

Faith In China

One of the largest fears that plagues the average modern American’s mind is the fear of total economic failure in the US economy and the economic domination of Chinese society. Of course it appears to be a valid fear though rest assured I am quite certain that there’s actually quite little to fear. Allow me to explain myself by first explaining the differences in our economic systems.

Let us travel across the drug infested border of Mexico and have a somewhat close examination of an exclusive system (China is also quite exclusive). First I’ll state due to much research I’ve found one clear observation that can expose whether a countries economic system is exclusive or inclusive. It’s quite simple really. If one sees a country where there are two extremes of economic classes with very little middle class then that is a tip off. In Mexico there is the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor with very little evidence of a middle sections (class). The upper class in Mexico is extremely wealthy financially and has no concern for their country while the poor which makes up most of the country, is quite possibly gets down to the poorest group of people one might ever come across on this not-so-fair planet. There is much pride in their upper class. It’s a badge of honor for them when they are connected and well taken care of as the trod on the poor man’s back. Not only is it a punishment for an average non-connected Mexican citizen if they get the idea of even attempting to own their own small business but it is quite dangerous too. Mirroring cases in Eastern European and many African countries one must pay a high fee for local protection. If one shows any sign of wealth and is not connected then it may as well be a death warrant on their head. This mostly of course deals with the massive drug cartel which also is majorly connected to the operations in their government. And to save for another post soon I will share the only resolution to this problem that I can think of and am quite certain will work. (more…)
